Mohenjo Daro Saturday (Day 2) Box Office Collections

Mohenjo Daro has shown decent growth in business on Day 2 at the box office – which basically means two things. One, the film hasn’t faced complete rejection, a section of the audience is liking the film. Two, the collections are still way too low to even hint some sort of a turnaround. From such a low level, Mohenjo Daro needed big growth of 30-40%, which unfortunately hasn’t come.
Once again, it goes to show the extent to which the clash has hurt the film. With a solo release, Mohenjo Daro would have probably managed to collect around 13-14 crore on Friday and a decent 10-15% growth on Saturday, would’ve ensured a 30 crore plus total in two days – as compared to less than 20 crore that it has now collected.
Without the clash, the film could have completely avoided the negativity and also the general perception that Rustom is a better film.
It’s still difficult to see where Mohenjo Daro goes from here. The film should collect around 30 crore in 3 days and 42-44 crore by the end of its extended 4-day weekend.
Stay tuned for the IndicineLBO prediction.
Mohenjo Daro Box Office Collections
  • Friday (Day 1) – 8.87 crore
  • Saturday (Day 2) – 10 crore (approx, early estimate)
            • Total – 18.87 crore

Rustom Day 2 (Saturday) Box Office Collections

Rustom has shown good growth in business on its second day at the box office. The film has collected around 16.5 crore on Day 2, as per early estimates, which should help the Akshay Kumar starer cross the 30 corer mark in two days.
The growth on Saturday sets the film up for a big Sunday. This week’s Sunday will be bigger than other Sunday’s because Monday is a national holiday for Independence Day. So the drop at multiplexes on Sunday due to Monday being a working day, will not be there this week, giving the film a big chance of notching up more than 20 crore at the domestic box office.
In addition to that, Rustom has now extended the lead over Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro by a margin of around 12 crore. This means Rustom is certain to be the bigger grosser and has comprehensively won the box office clash. More so since, Mohenjo Daro was a much more expensive film.
Rustom should collect close to 50 crore by the end of its first weekend. The extended weekend business could touch or cross the 65 crore mark. The film should recover all of its investment by the end of its first week.
Rustom Box Office Collections
  • Friday – 14.11 crore
  • Saturday – 16.5 crore (early estimate, final figures will be posted tomorrow)
  • Total – 30.61 crore (approx)

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan stopped at US airport

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his disappointment at being "detained" by US authorities at Los Angeles International Airport.
It is not clear why Khan was detained, or for how long.
The US ambassador to India has apologised for the detention and said authorities were working to ensure it did not happen again.
In 2012, Khan was detained for 90 minutes at the White Plains airport near New York.
In 2009, he was stopped for two hours at Newark airport. He was released after India's embassy intervened.
Khan, who flew into Los Angeles on Friday, tweeted:

New York boy killed bullied writes final letter

Daniel Fitzpatrick (pictured), 13, hanged himself in his family's attic in Staten Island, where he was found by one of his older sisters about 5:30pm on Thursday

The father of the New York teenager who took his own life after being mercilessly bullied at school has slammed the parents of the students who tormented his son.
Daniel Fitzpatrick, 13, hanged himself in his family's attic in Staten Island, where he was found by one of his older sisters about 5:30pm on Thursday.
His father, also named Daniel, posted an emotional 18-minute video on Facebook on Saturday as he struggled to cope with his son's death.

'I hope the memory of what you did to my son is burned in your memory for the rest of your life and you suffer as much as he has suffered under your bulls**t,' Mr Fitzpatrick said in the video.
'I have no words to describe the pain I am feeling right now. The parents of those boys, you know who you are, your boys know who you are, I know who you are – now the world knows what kind of people you are and what you will be.

Rio Olympics 2016: Andy Murray to face Juan Martin del Potro in tennis final

Britain's Andy Murray remains on course to win back-to-back Olympic tennis gold medals after beating Japanese fourth seed Kei Nishikori in the semi-finals.

The Scot won 6-1 6-4 and will play Juan Martin del Potro in Sunday's gold-medal match (19:00 BST) after the Argentine beat Spain's Rafael Nadal.

Del Potro, ranked 141st in the world, won 5-7 6-4 7-6 (7-5).
World number two Murray, 29, is attempting to become the first player to win two Olympic singles titles.

He won his second Wimbledon - and third Grand Slam - last month.

"It's obviously not an easy thing to do, that's why it's never been done before," said Murray about the prospect of another gold medal.

"I'm going to give my best effort and I'm happy I'm guaranteed the medal, but the goal is obviously the gold."

After coming through two gruelling matches to reach the last four, Murray dominated against Nishikori, breaking his opponent twice to win the first set in 30 minutes.

The Briton was unhappy to receive a code violation in the second set as he argued with umpire Carlos Ramos, but he remained in control of the action on court.

Nishikori appeared to wilt in the Rio heat as he dropped serve midway through the second set with a dreadful game.

Murray served his way to an unexpectedly simple victory, winning arguably the point of the tournament, a 23-shot rally, to set up a third match point.

Rio Olympics 2016: Russian whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova has account hacked

Russian whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova has had the account that shows details of her location hacked, the World Anti-Doping Agency has confirmed.

Stepanova is in hiding after helping to expose Russian state-sponsored doping.

Wada, which had been alerted that its website had been hacked, found the 800m runner's account had been accessed by someone other than the athlete.
"Wada is in contact with the relevant law enforcement authorities," a statement said.
Wada's Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS) allows athletes to enter information about their whereabouts from anywhere in the world to help the agency co-ordinate testing.
"Through regular security monitoring of ADAMS, the agency noted that someone, other than Ms Stepanova, had accessed her account," said the statement.
"A subsequent investigation allowed the agency to determine that no other athlete accounts on ADAMS have been accessed."
Stepanova and her husband Vitaly, a former Russian anti-doping official, are currently living in a secret location following her evidence to Wada's report into Russian doping.
